Body Worn Camera Policy

The Wyckoff Police Department is proud to join the growing ranks of law enforcement agencies that deployed body-worn video cameras on police officers. The cameras will be used in accordance with the guidelines established by the New Jersey Attorney General and the directives issued by the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office. Our agency wants this new technology to enhance and improve our relationship with you. Effective policing is achieved through strong partnerships with all of you and all of our citizens. These body-worn cameras will be used in a variety ways; to enhance agency transparency, to strengthen officer performance and accountability, to improve evidence collection, to document encounters between police and the public, and to investigate and resolve officer involved incidents. The body-worn cameras supplement our existing in-car digital video system. All officers equipped with the body-worn cameras have received training on the devices and will be worn by our officer's starting January 1, 2022.
